Dr. Achilles Karagiozis is the director of NLR’s Building Technologies and Science Center, which is home to approximately 170 multidisciplinary researchers.
His work is focused on accelerating the development of strategic scientific capabilities of the center and directing world-class research to advance building science to address energy efficiency improvement in the built environment, advanced robotic construction, AI-driven research, advancements in energy reliability, and affordability.
He has trained over 6,000 architects and building scientist engineers in the field of durability and moisture assessment of buildings.
Prior to NLR, Achilles served on the executive team of Owens Corning as the global director of building science, leading global accountability for the company’s building science strategy. He holds two master's degrees, one in mechanical engineering in advanced manufacturing and one in fluid dynamics at the Von Karman Institute in Fluid Dynamics, and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering in thermal sciences of micro-electronic cooling from the University of Waterloo.
