Shane holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical and Environmental Geography from The Pennsylvania State University, where he contributed to international ecology research projects in South Africa and San Salvador supported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). His academic foundation in environmental systems and applied research continues to inform his work in building science and energy policy.
A certified BPI HEP Energy Auditor and Quality Control Inspector, Shane brings nearly two decades of experience in residential and commercial energy efficiency. His expertise spans energy auditing, field staff supervision, building science training, program implementation, and policy development. Throughout his career, he has focused on advancing quality standards, strengthening workforce development pathways, and improving program delivery at scale.
Shane is especially passionate about expanding equitable access to energy efficiency and weatherization programs, with a strong commitment to serving historically underserved communities and weatherization contractors. He currently serves on the Building Performance Association’s Board of Directors and is an active member of the Policy and Workforce Development Subcommittees, where he helps shape industry standards and national workforce strategy.
