Traditional approaches to energy education often focus on technical details that don’t always connect with customers’ everyday realities. This session explores how weatherization programs can shift the conversation towards customers’ comfort, health, safety, and household efficiency. Communicating actionable messages that resonate, build trust, and empower households to take control of their health and financial burdens in a sustainable way.

Field staff must have good communication skills because they translate technical findings into clear, compelling benefits that motivate customers to take action. They help ensure recommended upgrades are understood and work towards them being accepted, and implemented in a household.
