What’s the first image that pops into your mind when you see the term “water heating”? It’s probably a water heater tank. Depending on your interests or what you have in your home, perhaps it’s a tankless or solar water heater. For most people, hot water is all about the device that heats water. Water heating, however, is a system, and the water heater is merely one component.
In this session, we'll look at the whole hot water system. The inputs include energy and water. The outputs can include hot water, exhaust gases, and cool air.
We'll cover the whole gamut of hot water issues, including different types of water heaters. Combustion safety, of course, is an important issue, but so are the special needs of heat pump water heaters and distribution efficiency. And we’ll cover the lesser known problem of poor hot water distribution that results in long wait times, wasted water, and wasted energy. And you may be surprised at what you learn.
